Tell Manufacturing: 40 Years of Value, Built on Experience.

For four decades, Tell Manufacturing has served as a cornerstone of the commercial door and hardware industry. Since its founding in 1986 by Patrick Tell, the company has operated with a singular, focused mission: to deliver dependable commercial products at competitive prices, supported by deep industry expertise and unparalleled service.

These foundational offerings established Tell as a trusted name, and by the late 1980s, the company was already serving major retail customers across the United States. Throughout the 1990s, Tell continued to evolve, expanding its portfolio into a comprehensive range of exit devices and closers to become a full-line hardware provider.

The turn of the millennium marked a significant era of strategic and operational growth. In the early 2000s, Tell entered the modular and metal building industries, supplying integrated solutions to manufacturers with the launch of our Telstar and Tioga Doors.  To support our new growth, we opened our first standalone warehouse service center in Elkhart, Indiana, the first of many to come.

Tell continued to scale its infrastructure to meet rising demand, opening a major manufacturing plant in Houston in 2007 and launching the Spartan Door. These milestones solidified the company's manufacturing footprint and set the stage for high-level corporate partnerships and eventual acquisitions. In 2014, Tell merged with Spectrum Brands' Hardware and Home Improvement Division, and in 2023, it joined ASSA ABLOY Group, the global leader in access solutions.

Today, Tell Manufacturing employs over 200 professionals across its administrative, manufacturing, and distribution facilities.  Now backed by resources of ASSA ABLOY, the company remains at the forefront of the industry with recent innovations like the Telstar CD Container Door and the LE2000 and DE2000 Electronic Keypad series.

40 years since its inception, Tell remains committed to the core values of quality, value, and service that continue to define its legacy.
